Two Minutes On Broad Street

I did my best to go out on the town for each game of the World Series. The rain in game 5 made things difficult, but being able to end it all at a decent hour on Wednesday was worth it.

Here's some video of Broad Street shortly after the win.

For those unfamiliar with Philadelphia, that's the Walt Whitman Bridge connecting to New Jersey.

Camping out.

Camping out without leaving the comfort of your home is sometimes not very comfortable at all.

We bought our house without the stairs having a polyurethane coat. The guy who was going to do it, a Brazillian dude, randomly showed up yesterday to finish the work. We had been through a first coat already, and so while we were a bit annoyed with the random timing, we figured it wouldn't inconvenience us too much. The first time around we had to stay off the stairs for about 4 hours. We found out after the fact that when the second and final coat is applied, you can't get on the stairs for 12 hours. So I got home and camped out on the first floor. Emily came home at 9:00, and we ate dinner. And hung out. Then the major problem came up.

We have no bathrooms on the first floor. I scaled down the basement stairs by pushing off the walls and leaping most of the way down to avoid touching the stairs. To get back up, I used the cellar doors out the back of the house. Except it was pouring rain. So Emily had to use an umbrella and go out the back of the house and down the cellar stairs past the spiders and other scary things to get to the basement to go the bathroom.

She slept on the couch. I slept on the floor. At least our stairs look nice now.
